Hello.

Welcome to my website. I'm Donyale -
author, playwright and screenwriter.

The photo above was taken in 2015, as I trekked through Lango Bai in Odzala National Park, in the Republic of Congo. I was the writer/ producer/ director on a YouTube travel series. This photo says more about who I am, and the places that shaped me as a writer, than a profile photo would.

Today, I live and write in a seaside town in Australia. There are sabre-toothed spiders, soft grey roos, and deadly sneks. It's far from rumbling elephants and gorillas in the rainforest, but the ideas and concerns I write about today have been quietly simmering and taking shape through all my adventures. This photo is a way to honour my roots.

I recently dusted off an animation script I wrote in 2015 called Willow the Wildebeest, to re-work the story into Early Reader fiction for kids between 5 and 8 years old.
